Uterus and Vagina – Pelvic Exam
This simulator was developed by Professor Bianca Ruschel Hillmann to explain the speculum exam (part of the pelvic exam) and the differences between the anteverted and retroverted uterus. Also, it demonstrates some of the pelvic anatomies.
Material needed:
– Corn starch or flour
– 1 balloon
– Funnel
– 1 pet bottle
– Adhesive tape
How to Do:
–
Using the funnel, place the starch in the PET bottle and transfer it to the balloon by squeezing the bottle (it is easier than doing it directly with the funnel on the balloon)
–
Model the balloon into the uterus shape
-Wash and cut the pet bottle in order to acquire a rectangle. Roll it up and attach it with adhesive tape.
– Assemble the balloon uterus with the PET bottle “vagina”.
-This simulator allows you to discuss anatomy, Pap material collection, and also different positions of the uterus and cervix for speculum examination.
